Well hello there....

For some reason, I thought you might like to follow my journey from someone who decided to make all her Christmas presents in 2008 to something a little more commercial..... eek!

Life's a Beach....

New print.... available for special order......

LOVE the vintage feel to this fabric... What do you think?

I recently finished reading this book - perhaps that's where the idea came from....

There's a new one on the way.... inspired by the Chinese New Year.... watch this space!

My Online Shop is LIVE!!!!

Please click on the picutres in the sidebar to view the shop.
Through the wonders of modern technology my Etsy shop is now live!

Me and my trusty sewing machine have been hard at work to stock the online shop. I have taken and edited the pictures (any tips on this gratefully received!) and negotiated the surprisingly easy set-up..... and now I'm pleased to say - it's all live - please feel free to take a look around and let me know what you think!

Nifty little gadget to the right hand side of the screen gives you a little preview...

New Design....... introduction of the BIG Washbag.

As with all successful designs the BIG wash bag was born of necessity.... New Year's Resolutions Part Two is to join the gym. This is something I have been dreading, but the scales are firmly announcing that it is imperative.

Thankfully there is a really good gym close to my office and I thought I would ease myself into the ordeal of long-term membership with a course of Power Plate sessions. Turns out that this is an ultra modern form of torture especially designed for those who are short on time. It also turns out that it's quite useful for those who wish to be totally immobile for 48 hours following the session!

Easing the pain of  my smelly gym kit is my massive BIG Washbag. It's big enough to fit full size bottles of shampoo an shower gel (after all, who has the time to "decant" really) AND you can also squeeze in your smelly gym kit so that it doesn't infect the rest of your bag. This is particularly useful if you're a morning gym bunny, negating the unpleasant odor emanating from under your desk situation. These will be available in the online store very soon - also in the Sanderson Print:

Unlike the handbag sized box bags, these are lined with water resistant fabric and include a small pocket  which is a useful place to slide your watch/jewellery while your pounding the treadmill.
Of course they're not just for gym bunnies, they're also great for the big bottles in your suitcase - the one that simply must go in the "hold" because you simply couldn't manage on 100ml of shampoo for your two week holiday!

I'm also canvassing opinion - Etsy or Folksy? I'd love to know what those of you who are in the know think!

Felt Letter Names.... for Isabel and Mia

I am extremely fortunate to be a very proud Godmother. I have 3 godchildren and they are all wonderful. Needless to say, the little people in your life always require remembering at Christmas and on their birthdays. I don’t know about you, but as a crafty type I usually want to make then something.

When bundles of joy arrive in my world I usually welcome them with a cardigan and a cashmere bunny. But what to give to the little darlings when they’re all about moving around, discovering things and crawling and playing? In the course of my Internet trawl looking for ideas for my beautiful Goddaughter Isabel’s Christmas present I came across this fantastic tutorial from Rae at Made By Rae which have me the idea for this:
I didn't link them together as Rae did - but put them all in a bag so that she can delve about in it and discover the letters in there. The cherry fabric has been in my stash for an age and I've been wanting to use it for a while. Have to admit that the cross-stitch name badge was a bit of a labour of love... haven't done any of that for years - but I think it worked out quite well in the end.
My Godson's new little sister got this version:

Making Making Making.....

This is all part of the New Year's resolutions.....

Keeping on the right side of sobriety for the first six weeks of the year is being "supported" by rushing home to sew lots of lovely things for the online store.....

Hopefully by the end of the weekend I will have a pile of things that look (a little better) like this:

The above is the very first make-up bag I ever made - let's call it my prototype... this is mine. It has been in my handbag for 6 months and is the one I use as an example when people ask me about the things I make... it's been a true friend - and though it is not perfect - its off-spring are much more polished!
